Just a thought. The best monsters are as much about exploration as wandering into a room full of pools. So, not "Oh
these orcs are green,"
but "Why are these headless humanoids shuffling in a circle? Wait . . . my head is getting fuzzy . . . I . . ."
I think that the best monsters, the best dungeons, the best adventures, the best stories and the best lives are about exploring the boundaries of imagination, and recognizing the familiar within the strange, and the strange within the familiar.ReplyDelete
Thanks for the comment, Jennie. I think what I'm mostly trying to do as a DM is not help players recognize the familiar in the strange, but make everything interesting and strange. Or else why go down into that dangerous hole ;)ReplyDelete
