I found some images in mountaineering books that I thought you might find interesting. The clothes and expressions are goofy, but the positions are precarious. These guys aren't taking on a dragon by themselves, heck, I imagine some of them won't make it to the dungeon entrance.
Yes, these are some classic mountaineering and climbing illustrations from old texts on climbing in the Alps and elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThat said, they show the rudimentary technique and equipment of the time, and can be very informative for players whose " climbing equipment " is equivalent. That is, hemp rope and a few metal spikes.
These guys are scaling hills almost naked compared to modern climbing athletes.
