When You See it You'll . . .

I forgot I found this picture last week.   At first I was like, okay a hippo and an elephant that's odd that they would get along but then I thought, oh, they're stuffed? But then . . . wtf!

  2. But don't you see? It's a Ninja Turtle. How else would it cling to the ceiling? ;P

  5. Okay, that got me laughing something fierce. WTF indeed, dude. "Interieur des galeries d'histoire naturelle" means "Interior galleries of Natural History," not "WHERE THE HECK DID THE CURATOR PUT THE TURTLE, AND WHAT WAS HE SMOKING AT THE TIME?"

  7. I was there just the other day! Alas, they've changed the display. Still, there's some great high weirdness in natural history museums: alternative designs for AMNH in New York had it showing progressive evolution on one big winding path with (IIRC) dinosaurs, jellyfish and bacteria down in some cavernous basements and modern man and machines in a light-filled glass gallery right at the top, and statues of Adam and Eve and the Greek gods around the foyer.

...did you know that P. T. Barnum had a competing bid for a natural history museum in NY but his own museum of curiosities mysteriously burned down and he had to withdraw for lack of funds?

  8. "Mr Turtle mocks your flawed understanding of fundamental physics."

    or

"Elephant and hippo thought the tube of Superglue was their most entertaining purchase in a long time."

    or

Turtle: "Why are all those stuffed objects glued to the ceiling. That's weird."

  9. You folks are a hoot. I posted this, went to bed, then looked at it at lunch the next day. It cheered me up. Thanks.
